Wine vintage In Umbria

 

Day 1

Arrival at Rome Fiumicino airport and welcome by our driver. Departure by coach towards Umbria region and to our final destination: Fattoria di Vibio.

Arrival to Vibio after about 3 hours drive and accommodation in our rooms. After checking into our rooms, welcome drink in the garden near the swimming pool. After the welcome drink, we shall start our professional wine and cheese tasting with a professional "somelier” who will teach us about the secrets of wine, cheese and all other local specialities.

Tips on tasting techniques will also be shared.

There are 4 varieties of extra virgin olive oil to be tasted: Blended, Single cultivation from Moraiolo, Perfumed with oranges and with lemons.  After this a similar discussion and tasting of a selection of 7 varieties of cheeses will take place. The selection will include a mild cheese, a soft and fresh cheese, goats cheese with fig marmalade, a seasonal dairy cheese in ash, a fresh pecorino cheese with hazelnuts typical of Siena, a grana cheese with traditional balsamic vinegar, seasonal pecorino cheese with honey to finish and finally a fresh, sweet gorgonzola with a grape jelly. Following each cheese will be a wine tasting with some of the following wines: a light white wine, a structured white wine, and light red wine to finish with the tasting of the gorgonzola.  The day will pass with a reading of the theoretical explanation of the techniques of wine tasting and of the cheese and clear differentiation of their own cheese production. During the lesson and illustration the wine tasting will continue.
The lesson finishes with a dessert matched with a wine.

At the end of the afternoon, time at leisure in the swimming pool or in the wellness centre.

In the evening, dinner with local specialities. Relax in the garden and overnight.

 

Day 2

Breakfast and departure by minibus towards the wine producer FALESCO (30 minute drive from Vibio). At the wine producer Falesco, clients will be given a highlight explanation of what and how they will help in the wine field by cutting the grapes, loading the grapes into the buckets and then where the grapes are brought after the picking, and what happens........ A complete explanation so that the clients will understand and participate actively to the vintage. At the end of the morning work, clients will have lunch and also taste the wine of the Falesco production.

After lunch, departure by minibus towards Fattoria di Vibio and afternoon at leisure or optional excursion in mountain bike. A ride through the beautiful scenery of the Umbrian hills will be unforgettable.

Dinner and overnight at the Fattoria di Vibio.

 

Day 3

Breakfast and departure departure for the excursion with the 4 wheel drive jeeps through the hills which surround Vibio.

We leave from the Fattoria di Vibio, towards the Faena torrent, in the direction of Ripavella, to reach the Valle del Lupo (Valley of the Wolf) that brings us to Lake Poggi. From there we take a long trip to the Mount Peglia Nature Reserve, to the Park of the Seven Monks, and the Garden of Butterflies. We go towards Mount Piatto, the Cerasa up till Roccaccia passing via Osa. We take a break for lunch of local products and admire the sunset and the breathtaking views over Lake Corbara. White roads, rough tracks, no asphalt!At the end of the morning, return to the Fattoria di Vibio and will have the

rest of the day to relax by the pool or maybe to have a  massage in the wellness center !!

At the end of the day, dinner and overnight.

 

Day 4

Breakfast and departure towards Todi, one of the most beautiful towns of the Umbrian region where we will have a guided visit.

After the guided visit of Todi, time at leisure for lunch and departure towards Rome Fiumicino airport and departure for the return flight home.
